The Equity Foundation is thrilled to be collaborating with the Atlantic Acting School and the New Zealand Film Commission to once again offer a New Zealand performer the opportunity to hone their craft in New York .

The Spring Comprehensive scholarship (valued at $US2,500) will take place in New York City from May 22 – June 30, 2017.

We are delighted that once again the New Zealand Film Commission are joining us to contribute a cash prize of $NZ5,000 to assist with flights and accommodation.

APPLICATION AND PROGRAM DETAILS
•Applications are now open for the Equity Foundation Scholarship to attend the Spring Comprehensive at the Atlantic Acting School in New York City.
•The Scholarship covers Atlantic tuition fees and a financial contribution of $NZ5,000 towards accommodation, flights, meals or incidentals which are the responsibility of the winner.
•There is one place available in this program. The winner will attend the Atlantic Acting School from May 22 – June 30, 2017.
•Please follow application instructions carefully. Your bio and headshot must be ONE pdf document. Your showreel must be provided as a URL. We do not accept video files. Your showreel should be hosted on your own private YouTube or Vimeo channel or personal website.
•Applications close Thursday March 16, 2017.
•Shortlisted applicants will be required to participate in phone interview with judges.
•The winners will be chosen by a panel of industry experts and announced at the end of March 2017.

The Atlantic Acting School
Founded by David Mamet and William H. Macy, the Atlantic has the only conservatory program in the world that offers in-depth training in Mamet and Macy’s unique and influential approach to acting: Practical Aesthetics, the Atlantic Technique. The school’s mission is to ensure that each graduate masters the essential analytical and physical disciplines of acting and to empower every student with skills necessary for success in the profession.

The Spring Comprehensive
The 6-Week Spring Comprehensive is designed to give students a basic foundation in the Atlantic Technique. Introducing the Atlantic Technique, Practical Aesthetics, in six weeks through its three core courses, Script Analysis, Moment Lab and Performance Technique, coupled with instruction in voice, this course serves the actor seeking familiarization with the foundation of the technique in a concentrated program with an intimate ensemble. Working with contemporary dramatic texts, students in the Spring Comprehensive are instructed in a disciplined approach to script analysis, working truthfully moment-to-moment and in bringing these skills together in performance of the material. Additionally, a Voice class which introduces Chuck Jones’s work complements the scene study and explicitly reinforces the actor’s connection to his or her physical instrument. Classes are held Monday through Friday between the hours of 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
