BGT will soon be offering a five week, in-depth acting course focusing on scene work and script analysis as well as industry insights like auditioning tips and finding your “type.” As a pre-cursor to this extended course, we will be holding a one day overview workshop in order to give you a sneak peak at some of the techniques we’ll be utilising. This will also allow us to get a sense of your existing skills and determine who will be a strong fit for the extended course.
Participants will bring in a scene or monologue of their choosing, something which showcases their strengths as an actor. They’ll get the chance to perform it a few times on camera and then watch the performance and get feedback. We’ll discuss basic preparation methods like character backstory, world-building and wants and needs within the scene and objective tactics, as well as how to take direction and make performance adjustments in the room. We’ll also talk about how to analyse a script to determine critical performance factors like tone and genre.
The class will be lead by BGT’s own Daley, a graduate of Emerson College with a B.A. in Theatre Studies focusing on Acting and Directing. He's also studied improv at UCB in Los Angeles and performed in Boston stage productions of Hamlet, Romeo & Juliet, A Bright Room Called Day, The Cradle Will Rock, House Of Yes and A Gaggle Of Saints. Daley has worked throughout Los Angeles and has a keen insight into the Hollywood mindset and the American cinematic sensibility. This is also a great opportunity to work on your American accent!
